Snowshoeing at Night

To get in the Holiday mood, we headed up Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain to report on a snowshoe fondue tour for the Globe. Our cheerful guides led us into a forest of giant snow-covered Douglas firs, Cypress and yellow cedar, and along the way, told us about the ecosystem we were tromping through.

After an hour or so of meandering and marveling at the beauty of the forest, we arrived at the rustic and warm Hollyburn Lodge, for a gooey Gruyère and Emmental cheese fondue, homemade hot apple cider and a chocolate fondue for desert. We loved the apple cider.
